NMB Bank and the Nelson Mandela African Institute partner to enhance financial literacy in Tanzania

NMB Bank and the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) have signed a five year memorandum of understanding designed to bridge academia and industry. The partnership will enhance digital skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship among students, while aligning academic research with commercial needs.

Through internships at the bank, NM-AIST students will gain real world experience in banking and technology. Emmanuel Akonaay, NMB’s Chief Human Resources Officer, sees the collaboration as part of a broader effort to future proof Tanzania’s workforce by fostering local tech talent. The partnership also offers NM-AIST students funding and mentorship, helping to turn research into market ready innovations.
