UGEFA and dfcu Bank collaborate for a sustainable future in Uganda
The Uganda Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator (UGEFA) joined forces with dfcu Bank to foster green economic development in Uganda. dfcu Bank is committed to transforming the economy in Uganda and enhancing the wellbeing of its people.
In line with UGEFA’s vision for a swift shift to a green economy led by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), collaborating with financial institutions, this partnership with dfcu Bank is crucial for expanding financial access to green SMEs in Uganda. Together, they will support SMEs in clean energy, green manufacturing, sustainable tourism, waste management, and green mobility, aiming to enhance green impacts and create direct and indirect jobs.
In November, a partnership agreement was signed between UGEFA, represented by the European Union Delegation to Uganda, and dfcu Bank. Speaking at the partnership announcement, Mr Charles Mudiwa, dfcu Bank CEO said that the partnership is a symbol of the bank’s commitment to fulfilling its purpose of transforming lives and businesses in Uganda. “dfcu has been at the helm of enabling businesses at various stages to realise their dreams to grow responsibly while attaining profitability. We are confident that this partnership will allow us to continue on this journey, which will undoubtedly benefit multiple individuals, businesses, and communities,” he added.
Christine Meyer, UGEFA Project Lead stated that they were honoured to welcome dfcu Bank to a community of committed role models financing change in Uganda. “We believe that this partnership between dfcu Bank and UGEFA will create lasting impacts and will further increase access to finance for green SMEs in Uganda and scale green sector financing,” she said.
