Uganda’s agricultural future continues to shine brighter through the resilience, innovation, and determination of the farmers transforming the sector every day.
At the Uganda Best Farmers Awards 2026 flag off, dfcu Bank together with its long-standing partners Vision Group, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Koudijs, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands reaffirmed a shared commitment to building a stronger, more commercially driven agricultural sector in Uganda.
This year’s ceremony celebrated 13 outstanding farmers selected for the 2026 Netherlands learning tour, an opportunity designed to expose Uganda’s top agribusiness champions to world- lass agricultural technologies, innovations, and sustainable farming practices.
Speaking at the event, Annette Kiconco, Chief Retail Banking Officer at dfcu Bank, highlighted the significance of agriculture in dfcu’s legacy of transforming Uganda. “This send-off comes just two weeks after dfcu Bank celebrated 62 years of transforming Uganda, with agriculture remaining at the heart of that transformation.
For the past 12 years, dfcu has partnered with Vision Group, KLM, Koudijs, and the Embassy of the Netherlands to deliver the Best Farmers Awards, one of Uganda’s most respected agricultural platforms.”
For over a decade, the Uganda Best Farmers initiative has evolved beyond recognition into a powerful platform for knowledge sharing, exposure, mentorship, and agribusiness transformation.
The initiative continues to empower farmers to move beyond subsistence farming into sustainable commercial enterprises capable of competing regionally and globally.
From financial inclusion and farmer education to access to international markets and modern farming technologies, partnerships remain critical in driving sustainable growth across the sector.
As Uganda’s agricultural sector continues to evolve, the Uganda Best Farmers Awards remain a symbol of excellence, innovation, and possibility. At dfcu Bank, supporting agriculture goes beyond financing. It is about enabling long-term relevance, resilience, and sustainability for farmers and agribusinesses across Uganda.
