Ecobank marks historic milestone with US$450 million nature bond

Ecobank celebrated a landmark moment at the London Stock Exchange with the successful issuance of its US$450 million Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Capital Bond, the world’s first ICMA designated nature bond issued by a commercial bank.

To mark the achievement, Ecobank Group Chairman Papa Madiaw Ndiaye and Group CEO Jeremy Awori opened the market alongside senior leaders, highlighting the transaction’s significance for sustainable finance in Africa.

The bond represents a major step in mobilising capital towards strengthening agricultural value chains, supporting sustainable economic growth, and protecting Africa’s natural assets.
